BITTER END YACHT CLUB

A Harbor That
Feels Like Home

When the Hokins first sailed into North Sound aboard their vintage ketch Alianora in 1969, they could not have imagined it would become their Caribbean home. By the time Myron and Bernice Hokin acquired the property in 1973, Bitter End was little more than a few cottages and a ramshackle bar, yet its adventurous spirit was already taking hold. Set in the unspoiled North Sound of the British Virgin Islands, it became a haven for sailors and watersports enthusiasts drawn to adventure.

In the years since, Bitter End Yacht Club grew into a world-class destination and a must-stop anchorage for sailors everywhere, guided by the same free spirit. Over the last five decades, what began as the Hokin family retreat has become an island home to kindred spirits from across the globe.

Built by Sailors,
for Sailors

For more than fifty years, our protected anchorage has been the North Sound’s gathering place. Tie up, come ashore, and settle into a place that feels like your home in the Caribbean—easygoing, storied, and shaped by the sea.

Dine Dockside

Explore the flavors of the Caribbean through sea-to-table dishes and open-air spaces designed for connecting. Established in 1969, Bitter End’s Clubhouse remains the dining destination of North Sound—timeless, elegant, and welcoming. Step off the docks and into the Buoy Room with your crew and find a classic après-sail watering hole serving casual Caribbean-inspired fare, while M/V Reef Sampler, once part of Bitter End’s Club Fleet, lives on as a beloved beach bar. Perched above it all, The Quarterdeck—part mariner’s library, part sundowner lounge—offers a one-of-a-kind setting where guests gather for artisan cocktails, global rums, glowing sunsets, and celebrations of every stripe.

PARADISE IN NORTH SOUND

“During our eight-night sailing trip around the BVI aboard two 46ft monohull yachts, 8 friends and I booked 2 slips at Bitter End Yacht Club. Booking was easy via email, and was followed up with secure dockage agreements for payment. There are many bookable balls at BEYC, but we were delighted that we booked slips. The dockmaster was very helpful with our docking, and we were quickly free to explore the paradise that is BEYC.”
