We always like to have a first time skipper, a Pro Am “Newbie” if you will, and this year, Dean carries the torch. Success came early for Dean, as he won the World Youth Champs in 1990, rose to #4 in the World Match Cup rankings, and was later brought aboard Team New Zealand’s winning America’s Cup campaign in 2000. He helmed the unsuccessful 2003 defense, but went on to be a popular and top flight skipper on the match race, Farr 40, RC 44, and TP 52 circuits.

Also a three time Pro Am winner, Peter Holmberg has competed at the highest level in everything from Finns (Olympic Silver Medalist) to Maxi Yachts (Maxi World Champion Skipper). He achieved a #1 Ranking on the World Match Race Circuit, created a Virgin Islands America’s Cup Team, and went on to join Alinghi’s successful 2007 America’s Cup defense. He calls the USVI home, and is considered the best sailor to ever come out of the Caribbean.

2010 will mark Anna’s second visit to the Pro Am Regatta. Hot on the heels of being a finalist (and a crowd favorite) at last year’s Pro Am, Anna jetted off to Korea to pick up the ISAF Female Sailor of the Year award. And the 2010 season so far has been equally illustrious. She announced that she would change disciplines and focus on the match race event at the next Olympic Games. And already she is being considered a front runner for the Gold. After taking the Silver Medal at the 42nd annual Semaine Olympique Francaise in Hyeres France (a World Cup Match race event), she won the XII International Women’s Match Race Criterium in Calpe, Spain, beating the world’s top ranked match-racer along the way. To refresh your memories, in 2008, representing the USA, she was the Olympic Gold Medalist and Number One-Ranked Woman Laser Radial Sailor.
