Our friendly watersports staff will help you with rigging and provide instructions for a safe and enjoyable sail. Refresh your skills or learn to sail in our Introduction to Sailing Course, complimentary with most stays.

Hobie Wave

Hobie Wave is the perfect boat for beginners, families and kids. Seasoned sailors will enjoy skimming across North Sound when the wind picks up.

Hobie Getaway

This performance catamaran can accommodate two to six sailors and comes complete with a trampoline up front, and a trapeze for the big breeze enthusiast.

       
       
Laser Sailing    

Laser (standard, radial, 4.7, custom)

The high-performance Laser offers a true challenge to the most skilled sailor and requires only one person aboard. Guests may sample four different rig types, including the junior & intermediate friendly radial and 4.7 rigs. All are invited to join the fun and test their skills each Sunday morning for exciting Laser class racing.

Bitter End’s Club 420s are Laser Performance models with trapezes and spinnakers. The 420 is the world’s most popular performance double-handed training boat for juniors and adults. Ideal for pre-season/mid-winter/Spring interscholastic and intercollegiate training.

With its large cockpit and simple controls, novices will learn the joys of sailing quickly and easily aboard a Hunter 216. But never fear: the 216s provide thrills commensurate with their sportboat heritage. Hunter 216 is included in our Sunday Regattas, periodically in the world- famous Pro Am Regatta (hyperlink to Compete at Bitter End/Pro Am Regatta), and during most of our annual special events

IC-24

Born of the J-24 design, IC-24s are the undisputed standard for performance keelboats. Each requires at least two experienced sailors, although four or five will be comfortable. Pro Am Regatta guests and pros agree that these boats are exciting racers.

Optimist Dinghy

The most popular singlehanded junior training sailboat on Earth, bar none. These lively little boats from Zim and Laser Performance are fun for juniors from age 8 to 14 years old. Simple to handle, stable, and easy to sail, they are used in the Junior Summer Sailing Course at the Bitter End Sailing School. Bring your yacht club junior program group. These 11-foot “u-drive-it” motorboats with are perfect for picnicking, exploring secluded beaches , snorkeling around North Sound and Eustatia Sound.

       
Kayak    

Hobie Kayaks

Tandem and single Hobie “Lanai” and “Kona” kayaks are ideal for taking in the scenery surrounding Bitter End. Go for a leisurely paddle, or if you prefer, pick up a picnic lunch from the Watersports Center and take off to explore the coastline and many small islands that ring the North Sound.

Hobie ATR Performance and Hobie DuraSUP Stand Up Paddleboards

Test your skills solo or share the ride with a partner on 12’ and 11.2’ paddleboards with carbon paddles. Either can be used as tandem paddleboards. Don’t worry about falling off! The water is at least 75 degrees!

Blue Water Racing Yacht – Express ‘37

Charter our high performance racing boat, Cosmic Warlord, an Express 37’ monohull that comfortably accommodates up to eight people and can travel up to 14 knots downwind! Only 65 of this highly coveted racing yacht were ever built. It is a true classic! No better way to get a taste of high performance off shore sailing than aboard our Cosmic Warlord!
