New Boats at Bitter End Fun for All.
The latest addition to the watersports fleet is the Bug by LaserPerformance. These boats are ideal for the entry level junior sailor who might like a little more stability and durability than a racing Optimist. Note that a parent (or a friend) can more easily fit aboard than on an Opti too. We have added two to the fleet, so brothers and sisters can square off. (click the picture to see more!)
If siblings prefer to team up, but are not yet ready for a 420, the Pico, also from LaserPerformance, is the perfect boat for them. This simple yet sporty two person training boat can be sailed just as easily with a mainsail as with a main and jib. The boat is easily righted, and the self-bailing cockpit empties immediately after a capsize. Kids can challenge a parent to a race, since the boats are ideal for either two children, or one adult.
And, what would the world’s premiere boating, sailing, and watersports resort be without at least a couple venerable Sunfish? They remain among the most popular boats in the world, for their imminent sailability, and we even hosted the Sunfish World Championships here in 1993 because we like them as much as our guests do!
We have also swapped in eight brand new Lasers (also from LaserPerformance), complete with standard, radial, 4.7, and BEYC-custom rigs, complete with the latest in blade and line technology too.
Kids are welcome to sail boats at Bitter End, and join in our extensive kids programs and activities! The activities program includes morning activities that will get them out on the water and learning to sail, snorkel and windsurf. In the afternoon, kids can paint, join in on guided walks, or take part in impromptu snorkeling trips. By the end of the vacation, you and your children will have learned new skills to enjoy being in, on or under the water, and you may even discover that you have a young Russell Coutts, JJ Isler or Jacques Costeau in your family! And of course, serious fun is guaranteed!
