Director of Human Resources Delores Creque has once again so wonderfully summed up our super Stars (from left to right):
Mr. Willis Richards: Willis is not the typical bartender; he is a man of few words who says a lot. Willis has been working at the Bitter End since 1980, a dedicated, loyal and trustworthy employee. Willis is sometimes called “Dr. Will,” as he loves to view everything from different perspectives before giving an honest opinion to guests and fellow staff alike. Although Willis seems a bit reserved, he has stays busy behind the bar, in a large part because of his famous tropical 16-ounce North Sounder drinks. Guests have booked return trips to Bitter End because of Willis' expertise with a blender and great service, and it shows from his frequent mentions on many guest comment cards. The Clubhouse Bar is the best “hang out” spot whenever Willis is at the blender.
Ms. Rhona Charles: “Miss Rhona” as she is affectionately known, works in the Clubhouse kitchen and has been employed with the Bitter End since 1978. Guests do not always have the good fortune to interact with Miss Rhona but they have had the great pleasure of tasting her many sumptuous salads and buffet dishes. As one of the few original pioneers from the '70’s, Miss Rhona is truly known, loved and well respected by her fellow coworkers. Always calm and soft-spoken in demeanor, she is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to culinary skills and finding just the right seasoning for our special dishes. Staff love her; managers love her and any guest that gets the chance to taste her culinary delights and interact with her will surely understand why she is a Service Star for the month of April.
Mr. Kerlon Harry: As a chef in the English Pub, Harry definitely adds personality to an already robust atmosphere. Although only employed at the Bitter End since 2006, if Bitter End had a high school yearbook, Harry would be voted “most memorable” among his fellow coworkers. The characteristic that stands out most about Harry is his ability to remain focused and calm, especially on those days when all our guests decide to enjoy the Pub’s signature pizzas, salads, sandwiches and other favorite snacks, and they are joined by our local and marina guests. No stranger to great customer service, Harry worked in the tourism industry for several years before joining the Bitter End team, and we are lucky to have him on our Team.
Mr. Bernard “Bernie” Charles: Bernie has the zest, spirit and dynamism of a true “sea dog.” Originally from the island of Dominica, Bernie has been working at the Bitter End since 1987. He works in the Watersports Department and you will usually find Bernie keeping guests entertained with his salty tales as he captains one of the Blue Water Excursions or chopping fresh coconuts so that guests can enjoy the natural sweetness of the juice and jelly. Bernard is very popular around the property with staff and guests, he truly enjoys his interactions - you never see him talking to guests with out seeing the guest laughing and enjoying himself. His manager Jerome hasn’t stopped beaming since Bernie was announced as a Service Star. Everyone at the resort knows when Bernie is on duty and misses him when he is not; it just isn’t quite the same.
